Happily humbled

The humble looking person with whom I am sharing the photo is Sonada, a very ordinary looking person who drives his auto in some South Calcutta route. But behind this apparently humble look, there resides a noble soul to whom I will be ever grateful. This is so as this person actually kept my cell in his custody securely for a little less than 2 hours before returning it safely to me after I left it in his vehicle while alighting in Golpark today morning. Yes, I had inadvertently left my cell near Golpark while I was on my way doing errands in the neighbourhood. When I realised, quite a few minutes past, I was shell shocked and was not clear what to do. I prayed to God and tried to think what can I do. I requested a nearby shopkeeper to lend me his phone so that I can try contacting my lost cell. But it seemed that his required recharging. Fortunately a shopkeeper of Mio Amore, whom I approached soon after, helped me immensely. Praying feverishly to 🙏The Almighty, as I tried calling my cell, it continued ringing the 1st time but was answered in the 2nd.
The auto driver, Sonada, was already on his return journey and was kilometres apart from me. But, he assured that he will be plying on the same route and if I can communicate with him after around another hour, will return it while on his way in the route. Thanking him and hanging up and sharing the contact details with the Mio Amore shopkeeper, I rushed to my home and waited with baited breath for another hour.
Previously I had witnessed the ill wishes of a private vehicle driver who had tried stealing a cell lying on his backseat and was quite apprehensive even after the calm assurances of Sonada. But brushing aside all these bad doubts and sticking ever true to his words, this honest individual continuously kept answering my calls, updating his whereabouts in his regular route and returned my device containing my albums and banking details safe and sound within a couple of hours. As I thanked him profusely, he just told that anybody in his line of work would have done the same. We parted with smiling faces but mine was that of relief while his was of contentment after completing a selfless act to drive a complete stranger happy.
Folks like Sonada make this world a better place to live and blesses mankind with happiness and belief! My heartfelt wishes for Sonada and his dear ones, may 🙏The Almighty keep him in good health.

  4. Respect for Sonada! These days the very basic courtesy is uncommon and hence his assurance 'anybody in his line of work would have done the same' is not usual for sure. 2.5 years back I lost my brand new mobile (just 1-2 months old) while taking a local ride (Auto,Toto), within minutes the phone was switched off and I could not find it despite contacting both the auto,Toto stand and union, it was gone forever without being able to trace exactly in which of the 2 Auto/Toto) it slipped out of my pocket.

  5. In this heartless world mostly of crooked people, there are people like your Sonada who still believes what's 'Dharma'. God bless him.
